ARTIST STATEMENT:
My work explores form, color, and space through the quiet of the everyday. I look for poetry in moments of intimacy and detachment, and in the uncertainty between them.
BIO:
Lara Mari is a figurative painter based in Queens, New York. Over the past two decades, she has maintained a dedicated practice in the traditional fine arts. She studied literature and ballet at UC Berkeley and continued her dance training in New York with Merce Cunningham and Martha Graham before turning her focus to classical drawing and oil painting. Her foundational training includes the Grand Central Atelier and the Art Students League of New York, followed by a deepening studio practice rooted in perceptual observation through private study and mentorship.
